International Mineralogical Association

Student Award 2020

Announcement

The International Mineralogical Association PhD Student award is intended to honor and support outstanding students by providing them the opportunity to present their research at an international level, forge new collaborations and ideas, and further develop their career.

The award is intended to support participation in an international conference with a strong involvement of the IMA. In 2020, the meeting of choice is the 3rd European Mineralogical Conference EMC2020, which will be held in Krakow, Poland, from 6 to 10 September, 2020 (https://emc2020.ptmin.eu/).

Each award will be 1,000 USD and is intended to be used for conference registration fees and related travel expenses. Five young scientists will be awarded at the 2020 call.

Anyone who is enrolled in a full-time PhD program in mineralogy (or a closely related discipline), or graduated since September 2019, is eligible to apply. Applicants should provide a CV (including a list of publications), a letter of support from their advisor, and a cover letter detailing their PhD project and achievements, and explaining how this award will benefit their research and professional development. Nominations from PhD research advisors (containing the same supporting documentation as above) are also welcome. The submission of an abstract to the EMC2020meeting is mandatory for the application to be valid.

The applications and nominations for 2020 should be submitted as a single PDF file to Prof. Dr. Patrick Cordier (patrick.cordier@univ-lille.fr) with a copy to Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Schertl (hans-peter.schertl@rub.de) no later than March 1st, 2020.
